Astrology Plus Magic! What You’ll Find Inside a Victorian Grimoire
Courtney Conway
If you’re not sure what a Victorian
grimoire
is, join the club. To start with, a
grimoire
is a magical dictionary or
spellbook
of sorts. The most popular Victorian version is A Victorian Grimoire, which is packed with everything from gardening tips, to love spells and astrological insights. Originally published in 1992, the book
was and
remains, a niche
fave
(we can’t prove they’re connected but it also came out just a few years before The Craft and Practical Magic). We were introduced to it’s magical existence by oil painter Kristin Texeira, who discovered the book as part of her research on ancient runes and symbols, and uses it as inspiration for her astrology-based works. Given that witchcraft is making a comeback these days (just ask Adam Rippon), we thought it made sense to ask her to share a few of her favorite tips and tidbits from the genre to get you going.
